United States, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and

Large Missile Impact Testing of Storm Stoppers:
Original 3/8" Storm Stoppers were Large
Missile Lab Impact Tested (Impact Only) on December 21, 2005 at
the National Certified Testing Laboratories (NCTL) in Orlando,
Florida. NCTL’s Laboratory is accredited by ICC-IAS. This is
the International Code Council—International Accreditation
Service.
This Large Missile Impact Test shot a 4 foot 2 x 4’ weighing 4.5
lbs at 40 feet per second at the Storm Stoppers panel. The
Large Missile 2 x 4’ bounced off the Storm Stoppers panel
at 3 separate impacts (center & 2 corners). As you will see
from the testing video, this Large Missile Impact test featured
Storm Stoppers protecting a standard glass window.
Despite the 3 Large Missile impacts, the glass did not break.

Storm Stoppers’ Building Code Approvals:
Original 3/8"
Storm Stoppers have been Building Code approved in
several states, including South Carolina, Georgia, Hawaii &
Louisiana. Several building code officials in these states have
told us they like how Storm Stoppers do not use
“penetrating fasteners” such as screws, bolts or nails, as
hurricane window protection panels that bolt on to a home are
dangerous and difficult to use. Storm Stoppers are a
great alternative to plywood, and unlike plywood, Storm
Stoppers allow a safe and fast exit from every protected
door and window in an emergency. That is why Storm Stoppers
are THE Plywood Alternative!
Special Safety Warning for homeowners considering
traditional “bolt-on” hurricane shutters or plywood:
Storm Stoppers
DO NOT bolt on to the home, but instead fasten with the patented
3M Dual Lock fastening system. Bolt on shutters are hard for a
homeowner to install and block the exits in case of emergency.
They also are an obstacle to a firefighter trying to gain access
to the home in an emergency. Case In Point: On July 28,
2011 there was a fire at a home in the SunTree subdivision in
Brevard County, Florida. This home had corrugated metal
hurricane shutters on the windows. The news story in the
Florida Today newspaper stated the following: “Hurricane
shutters likely allowed flames to incubate inside a house
Wednesday before neighbors noticed the blaze, then likely
delayed the firefighters trying to extinguish it.”
.Storm
Stoppers
are not to be confused with the dangerous, heavy and expensive
hurricane shutters endorsed by the optional Miami Dade or
Florida Building Codes. If you are curious why Storm
Stoppers are neither Miami Dade nor Florida Building
Code-approved, read the many “Hurricane Shutter Tragedies”
HERE. On this
page, you can also watch the video of the above SunTree house
fire.
Storm Stoppers customer testimonials from 3 major hurricanes:
Storm Stoppers
have been used on dozens of customer homes during three major
hurricanes since 2005. Storm Stoppers stayed securely attached
and protected these homes during the following major hurricanes:
1)
Category 3 Hurricane Wilma in 2005;
2)
Category 2
Hurricane Gustav in 2008;
3)
Category 2
Hurricane Ike in 2008.

to read these post-hurricane Storm Stoppers Customer
Testimonials. Pay particular attention to the photos showing
flush-mounted Storm Stoppers. Flush-mounted Storm
Stoppers are mounted to windows that are flush with the
outside of the home. Thus, flush-mounted Storm Stoppers
panels are exposed to the full force of hurricane winds. For
example, on Kenneth King’s home outside Galveston, Texas, all of
his Storm Stoppers panels are flush
mounted. As you will read, Mr. King installed his Storm
Stoppers window protection panels himself. Mr. King writes
that, in his opinion, Storm Stoppers saved his house from
being destroyed by Hurricane Ike’s winds and storm surge. In
another testimonial, Mr. Thomas Laird of Houston, Texas,
commented how fast Storm Stoppers installed on his home
and how they protected his flush-mounted windows during Category
2 Hurricane Ike in 2008.
